The Ayrshire Clarinet Choir has been existence for around 20 years, founded and led by Mrs. Barbara Lee, teacher of woodwind instruments in East Ayrshire, and meets alternately in Cumnock Academy and Alloway Church Halls, on a Monday evening at 7.00 - 9.00 pm.
Our conductor is Mr. Alan McDougall, who teaches music at Cumnock Academy, giving Mrs. Lee a chance to play her clarinet herself. The Choir is of mixed age-groups, roughly half and half between students and adults.
We play at various functions – ‘dates’ in recent years have included a concert at Straiton Parish Church, a regular stint at the Hospice Christmas Fair at the Citadel, welcoming the Ayr Hospital Volunteers at their ‘thank you’ evening and sessions of Christmas carol playing at Asda in Ayr in aid of SeAscape.
We are an enthusiastic and friendly group of about 20 members and would welcome any like-minded clarinettists who would like to come along.
