Sharing in Kiltwalk Kindness

We recently saw members of our church participating in the Glasgow Kiltwalk for two different charities close to our hearts. Both Rev. Neil McNaught and Lynda Mary share their experiences and gratitude for the support they received.

Rev. Neil McNaught, Mrs. Madge Irving, Mr. David Turner, and Mrs. Tracey Turner took on the 14-mile Big Stroll from Clydebank to Lomond Shores, raising £5176 for Christian Aid. When asked about the cause, Rev. Neil explained, "The funds raised will support the World Food Programme (WFP) in their efforts to improve food security for displaced people in Bangladesh, Nigeria, and the Democratic Republic of Congo." He added, "Thanks to people’s generous Kiltwalk kindness and Christian Aid’s relationship with the WFP, over £100,000 has been raised for some of the most vulnerable of the world’s poor. What finer reason to wear the kilt!"

To further support Christian Aid, the church is planning a Coffee Morning and Book Sale on Saturday, May 20th, from 10 am to 12:30 pm. Christian Aid Week 2023 will run from May 14th to 20th.

In contrast, Lynda Mary chose the 3-mile Wee Wander to support the Night Before Christmas Campaign, a local charity that brings cheer to struggling families during the holiday season and beyond. Lynda shared, "Last year, the charity delivered nearly 7,000 'bags of joy,' and I felt inspired to contribute to their mission."

Despite the rain during the Kiltwalk, Lynda and her fellow elves were in high spirits. She recounted, "We dried off in the marquee after the walk, enjoying a meal and performances by acts like the Red Hot Chilli Pipers." She is thrilled to have raised almost £700 for the Night Before Christmas Campaign through her JustGiving page and expresses her heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported her efforts and the charity itself.

We are incredibly proud of our church community for coming together to support these worthy causes during the Glasgow Kiltwalk. Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and cheered on our walkers. We look forward to future opportunities to give back and make a difference in the lives of those in need.
